The fractured fibula saga - continued

Original fracture
On Friday, I went back to the hospital for another x-ray and a follow-up visit with a specialist. He said that he couldn't see any change from the initial x-ray but it was too early. However, the fracture was still closed and stable.
"So how much longer do I need to have this cast on," I asked.
"Six to ten weeks in total before you can put your weight on," he said.
"In that case, I will go back to Greece."
"That's fine, I will open the cast  so that you can fly."

And so he did. He cut the cast lengthwise in the front and wrapped it with a stretch bandage.
Follow up through a cast
It is now a bit looser and so there is a smaller risk of Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT) while flying.
"But you must continue with the anticoagulant injections and at six weeks get another x-ray done".
Free to leave, I booked a flight to Athens for next Wednesday.
There are very few people left at the retreat now and the weather is growing colder - so a good time to leave. Meanwhile, in Aktio, I have plenty of work to do on the boat to keep me busy.
I have been writing a bit during the past four weeks, but to really concentrate, I need to be back in my own space. So the idea of a writer's retreat on Ibiza hasn't really panned out as I had hoped.
