Hero's Journey

When your story is about one main character, the story usually follows a script of a hero's journey or path of discovery. 

Here are the main points of the story line:

1. The ordinary world is described.
2. There comes a call to adventure.
3. The hero is afraid and refuses the call.
4. A mentor appears and shows the hero the way.
5. The hero crosses a threshold and begins his journey.
6. He is tested by enemies and helped by allies.
7. He approaches the big test.
8. He faces the ordeal of death and is reborn.
9. He is rewarded for his courage and seizes the sword.
10. The hero follows the road back home.
11. Resurrection - the hero is reborn anew, has grown as a result of the battle.
12. He returns home with the prize.
